don’t talk about what you don’t know, nostalgia ultra IS a mixtape. it has more than one song using samples (like american wedding, nature feels or strawberry swing). seb you talk like you actually know nostalgia ultra.
Frank Ocean is a great artist and can only get better. it is not over other people’s music (other than the one interlude with radiohead) and it is was put together to be released as an album, but the label didn’t put it out.

it was just released for free on the internet. check pyramids’ amazing transitions across 10 minutes and tell me it’s bad music.Īlso, nostalgia ultra was an album, not a mixtape. this is RnB/Soul through and through.Īnd it’s fantastic by the way. Lol what are you talking about!?!? this isn’t meant to be rap. “Rap music” is an embarrassment altogether. Not many bluegrass artists are this popular. You are all honestly out of your minds calling him a “rapper”. Yes, because rappers like Lil Wayne and Tyga are more talented than a man who writes heartfelt and emotional songs…and actually sings them well! Haha ‘untalented’ ? you have no idea of music Lots of nice details and enough interesting production to require repeated listens. I dont know what people where expecting but this is a fantastic well thought out original album. What’s with all the other files (COM, BAT, DLL, EXE, JAR) in the RAR? I disagree! everything he puts out is GOLD.
Get ready for the media hype because this album will have glowing reviews. Streamed it and I have to say “dissapointing” :( I guess when you set the bar high with a great mixtape Nostalgia Ultra its hard to equal.Īmazing, seriously the best R&B I’ve heard in a long long time. By creating Forrest Gump’s “moral uprightness” 4 to represent a politically correct 1990’s America, American’s, especially white middle-class Americans, were able to find a source of stability in their life and own history.Thx for the up.

From the 1960’s up until the creation of this movie the U.S. 3 America wanted to heal and regain whatever was lost in the previous decades. What point is the movie trying to make? It is based off of the Novel by Winston Groom, and as David Lavery points out, many changes were made in the transition from text to film. However, by avoiding it they are making another statement all together while completely overlooking something that is deeply tied within the fabric of American History. It’s a possibility that the directors didn’t really want to get involved in this issue. There were even courses created to discuss the issue of race and race tensions in the 1990’s. 2 This might be because race and race relations was a hot topic in the 1990’s, people began to realize that even 30 years after the Civil Rights movement African-American’s were still struggling. As Byers points out, while a whole string of political assassinations are mentioned, the two that are left out are those that deal directly with civil rights. Civil Rights was something that defined the 1960’s, and while it is brought up in the film, the actual violence and struggles that come from this time are barely mentioned at all. When they are discussed, they are done so through the innocence of Forrest Gump. The portrayal of race relations and tensions is interesting in this film, mostly because they are glossed over. 1 Forrest Gump’s namesake is actually that of General Nathan Bedford Forrest, a Civil War hero who took part in the founding of the Ku Klux Klan. However, as the movie points out through Forrest’s name, these tensions go back even further in American History and pre-dates the Civil War. The viewer begins to realize that this period of American History was chaotic, and the nation was divided over many issues. In between these wars, Forrest runs across many different political and social tensions, from political assassinations to Civil Rights and even the Counter Culture Movement. Through Forrest Gump’s life we are taken from a post WWII era into the Cold War and Vietnam. The film itself focuses on a chaotic time period ranging from the late 1950’s up until the early 1980’s. The clip touches on why the film itself because a symbol for America. This following clip by Siskel and Ebert provides an interpretation of Forrest Gump and what it meant for Americans in the 1990’s. “Stupid is as Stupid does.”- Forrest Gump
